Any amount of acreage qualifies.
While a planting plan can be helpful for a landowner to execute their conservation goals, submitting a plan to the nursery is no longer required. The conservation verification checklist will help us verify your project.
New customers must order two nursery products (seed, seedlings, or both).

Returning customers are not required to order a minimum amount.
Once you place an initial order with us, you can order as a returning customer, regardless of where the trees are being planted and no matter how long it has been since your previous order(s).
We stopped producing bareroot material in 2022.

Bareroot seedlings do not have soil around their roots. Containerized seedlings are often called "plugs" and have soil around the roots. See the diagram below.

The nursery has increased the price of seedlings due to the increasing cost of supplies, such as fertilizer, soil, plastic pots, etc. The nursery is a sole proprietor and does not receive an annual budget from the state of Montana. We are entirely funded by the sale of our products and grant funding when awarded. The nursery must be profitable to operate.
There are no direct grants through DNRC for individual landowners looking to purchase seedlings.

If a landowner or group of landowners have a project large enough to qualify as a landscape-scale restoration effort, they should contact their local service forester to discuss the possibility of putting together a project proposal.

Small scale landowners can reach out to their local conservation district for mini-grant availability.
